Founded by parents who recognized the need for inclusive housing choices, DHBMS has grown into a community organization bringing together families, self-advocates, professionals, and community partners to advance housing choices in Delta.

Our story
Started by parents who needed answers
In 2011, a group of Delta parents faced the same worry: where will our adult children live when we no longer can care for them at home?
A 2016 survey we ran found that 83% of Delta's adults with intellectual disabilities lived with aging caregivers, and 90% wanted to stay in Delta for life. The need was clear and urgent.
Since then we have built a community of families, self-advocates, and supporters working together to advance real, inclusive housing.
