October 4th, 2022 The Delta Community Forum , Housing for Everyone was a great success!
"Housing for Everyone" was an educational Delta community forum that inspired conversations. Noted as a high priority, the urgency for safe, affordable and inclusive places to live.
Several recommendations were clearly defined that will benefit everyone. For example, research income levels first when creating inclusive and diverse communities, housing designs that are for everyone including non-traditional families, actions that remove the risk of ghettoizing communities by segregating people with disabilities, seniors and individuals with limited financial means, vast improvements to transit infrastructure and remediate government systemic systems that currently do not address housing affordability and sustainability for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Who is responsible for housing for everyone? We all are. All partners and stakeholders will need to continue the dialogue, look closely and carefully at how to encourage actions to diminish the housing barriers.
The ultimate goal, to create welcoming and vibrant communities that embrace all people.
We need your help! Be part of the solution.
