The shelter portion of the Persons with Disability(PWD) monthly government cheque will increase by $125 per month beginning July 1st, 2023. The total amount for shelter/rent on the PWD cheque will be $500.00.
Increasing the shelter rate is a positive step. There is still a significant amount of work to be done to bring people with disabilities out of poverty.
